How To Set Up Your Twilio Account & Get Your SID / Token
Overview
- Set up a free Twilio account.
- Upgrade your account to a paid account - Just $20 is probably enough for a couple of campaigns to launch and track your campaigns.
- Get your SID and Token to copy/paste into Local Service Heroes.
The whole process should take about 10 minutes.
For any usage for calls and SMS, you'll be billed by Twilio directly.
You will not be billed for any usage or features on Local Service Service Heroes. Think of it like your own phone system that you built, for phone communications and campaign tracking, and you're only paying usage fees by "hooking" into the platform.
The first step is to create a free Twilio account. You will probably be given a free trial phone number. The phone number is also used to "anchor" your account to features and functions, which is why they give you one with account creation. You can delete it when you buy other phone numbers.
Important: When you sign up, after email and phone verification, you'll have to fill out a series of questions about what type of services you'll be using.
The selections don't matter since you will not be developing applications. Select "Voice" and for programing language, "PHP"... but it doesn't really matter.
You will then need to upgrade your account so you can buy phone numbers for $1.15/number (and pay only $0.014 per minute for outbound calls and $0.0085 for inbound calls). You'll be able to buy your phone numbers through Local Service Heroes, as soon as you save your Twilio SID & Token in our system.
Once you have your SID and Token, you can sign out of Twilio. All functions - including buying phone numbers, is done on the Local Service Heroes Platform.
