Creating Ad Tracking Campaigns
How To Set Up Campaign Performance Tracking
Start by making a list of all your existing marketing, like your social media campaigns. Then using these instructions, you'll set up a campaign for each of them, wherever you have a phone number posted. If you don't have phone numbers in some of your marketing - add them.
What Is Campaign Performance Tracking?
In order to know which method of marketing is working well, poorly, not all, or exceptionally well, you need to know how many leads you're getting from any single source.
You'll be surprised!
Example: Create a "Call Ad" on Facebook using Ad Creator and assign a tracking campaign to it with a phone number. In a few minutes, you can also create a PPC ad in Google. Create another campaign for that with a different number.
You'll find that one of them performs much better - and probably cheaper than the other. You can then optimize them both with Ad Creator. If one of them performs much better, then you ditch the one that's giving you a low ROI - and double down on the one that works better.
Creating The Campaign
Follow along with each number in this list, relating to a numbered step in the image.
- Give your marketing campaign a short name so you can easily identify it. For example, "Facebook ad, 20% off".
Important: You will NOT be able to change the name or the phone number after you created the campaign. If you want to use the name and / or phone number on another campaign, just delete the campaign. You won't lose any data.
- Enter the tracking number you bought for the campaign.
Note: Before you can create the campaign, you'll need to have already bought a local phone number for it on the "Buy A Phone Number" page. It's $1.15/mo. There are no additional usage or feature fees on the system. You can also release the number any time. Or use it for other campaigns.
- Select the campaign offer you set up to track. Before you launch your first tracking campaign, you'll have to set up at least one Campaign Offer with the marketing campaign details. This also hooks you seamlessly into the Shared Cost Marketing platform.
- Enable or disable AI voice transcription. You need to have already added your OpenAI API key for this work. If for some reason you don't want the call transcriptions, then leave it disabled. You'll still get all the call recordings.
- Emailed Transcripts: Transcripts can sometimes be rather long, so they are only emailed, and right after the call! When you enable call transcription, an email box will pop up. Enter the email you want to use for transcript forwards.
Note: If you haven't added your OpenAI key yet, the email box will not appear.
Note: If you have transcripts enabled, they will also be available in Campaign Calls for download so you don't have to fish through all your emails.
- Text forwarding. If you add a cell phone number here, then all texts that a lead sends to the tracking number will be forwarded to you instantly.
Identifying the campaign it's coming from by the short name you gave it, and the tracking number, as well as the number of the sender. If you leave it blank, text messages will not be forwarded.
- At this point you have created your campaign and can click "Save". You can come back later and spend another 2 minutes completing how you want the calls handled.
